Payne, Haluska Announce 2012 Motorsports Day
HARRISBURG – Reps. John Payne (R-Dauphin) and Gary Haluska (D-Cambria) announced today that the 2012 Motorsports Day at the state Capitol will take place on Tuesday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will be held at Soldier’s Grove, located on Commonwealth Avenue behind the state Capitol building.
“As co-chairmen of the State House Motorsports Caucus, Representative Haluska and I have organized this legislative tribute to the motorsports industry,” said Payne. “As always, the event is free and open to the public.”
This year’s event will feature a variety of vehicles and drivers from all corners of Pennsylvania.
Scheduled to appear is Bobby Gerhart, an Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) series driver, and Todd Peck, a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver.
Motorsports Day will also feature a Sprint Series National Guard car, Amkus Rescue Systems vehicles and the Pocono Raceway Pace car.
“Pennsylvania is rich in motor sports racing of all types and provides great family oriented venues across the state,” Haluska said. “Our state has benefited economically from the long-time investment of a wide range of businesses that are involved in the production and engineering of the various vehicles used today.”
“The goal of Motorsports Day at the Capitol is to acknowledge and celebrate this important industry and the considerable impact it has throughout Pennsylvania,” Payne added. “I encourage citizens to join us for what will be an exciting day of tribute.”
